Sketches in my sketchbook of heads from my head. I tried to make that sentence as awkward as possible. Like the the first sentence noted, I avoided reference. You always need to go back and forth between reference and imagination... I can see some good mark making habits starting to develop.
Lovin' the Gibson-esque mark-making. Also love the combo of fluid, loose, expressive marks alongside more carefully drawn marks. Pretty sweet, my friend.
Thanks Rick! It's always a challenge to figure out where I can apply loose mark making and then where to take a bit more time. I figured as long as the dominate facial features (eyes, nose, mouth) are properly constructed, being loose everywhere else will emphasize those features a bit more and make the image more appealing due to varying up the mark making. Well, that's what I'm thing for now...
